Acts 2
"....I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions."
(JOEL 2:28)
It was fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus and "When the day of Pentecost [the Feast of Weeks] came, they were all together in one place" (Acts 2:1). About 120 of Jesus' followers were gathered in an upper room in Jerusalem. "Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit..." (Acts 2:2, 4).
Tens of thousands of Jews had come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Weeks as required in the Law of Moses. Nevertheless this great "Appointed Day" given to Israel in Leviticus 23 was only a "picture," just a foreshadowing of a greater reality that would have its fulfillment on this very Feast Day in an upper room in Jerusalem.
There is absolutely nothing that happens in the universe that is outside of God's influence and authority. He has control of our eternal destiny, and He directs our path. God provides for our needs and works His perfect will through our life. He is sovereign!

Names have significance. Names of God have divine significance and at Christmas time we look at the names of Jesus. This gives us a deeper understanding of who He is and what He came to do.
