Depending on God

Deuteronomy 8:1-6;
Ephesians 3:20
"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
(MATTHEW 6:26)
The appointed time of the Feast of Tabernacles comes with the command for all of Israel to dwell in booths for seven days (Leviticus 23:42-43). These temporary, vulnerable shelters were to remind Israel of God's faithfulness during their 40 years of wandering in the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt These booths symbolized man's need to depend on God entirely for His provision of food, water and shelter.
The nation of Israel wandered in the wilderness with little or no possessions. Every step of the way they had to depend totally on God to provide and meet their needs. Isn't it interesting that when we have little in the way of material possessions, we have great dependence on God? When we have much, it is easy to forget Him.
God tested Israel to show them what was truly in their hearts. He said to them, "Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God" (Deuteronomy 8:11). Do we depend on God, in good times and bad? "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).

Do Not Forget the Lord
8 Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors. 2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. 5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
6 Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him.

NEVER FORSAKEN [PART 1]
with J.J. Jasper
"How could you let this happen?" J.J. Jasper begged God for an answer when he lost his 5-year-old son. To his surprise God answered and gave him a powerful testimony of joy and hope.
