1 Samuel 12:16-24
"As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right."
(1 SAMUEL 12:23)
Praying for others is simply bringing someone before the Lord in a time of need. Paul tells us to "pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests" (Ephesians 6:18). He even goes on to ask the believers in Ephesus to pray for him (vv.19-20), reminding us that whether we are "baby Christians" - just new in the Lord - or long-time Christians, we still have needs to lay before the Lord in prayer. Paul also tells us to "not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6). We really do have a Heavenly Father who delights in hearing of our anxieties, concerns and issues through prayer.
We were sitting at our dining table with our two granddaughters, age twelve and eight. We mentioned that a cousin was having a very serious surgery and we needed to pray for her. The younger of the girls said, "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's pray right now!" People need prayer. What are we waiting for?
